From Dead to Worse

This is a review of “From Dead to Worse” by Charlaine Harris. It is the eighth novel in The Sookie Stackhouse Series. It follows on from “All Together Dead“.

If you are a fan of the HBO show Trueblood, then you ought to know that the show has not reached this point in the series yet. Though, how alike the series will be to the books remains to be seen.

Sookie has not heard from her boyfriend Quinn since leaving him in the hospital after the explosion in Rhodes (“All Together Dead”). She is extremely worried for him, and can’t help but wonder why he has not called. It’s as though he has vanished into thin air.

Amelia is worried for her witch friends in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She really wants to know how everyone has fared, but she’s got to answer for Bob. (Which won’t be nice).

Bob is still a cat (he is normally a man).

The werewolves of Shreveport have their own problems. Were women are disappearing and the men are getting increasingly worried and angry. Alcide suspects that Patrick Furnan is picking off his rivals (Alcide is Furnan’s biggest threat), but Alcide can’t understand why Patrick is attacking women.

Sookie discovers that she has more family than just Jason. This is a wonderful (if confusing) surprise.

This novel was a “full” one. I liked it, but there was a lot going on. I like the more mysterious Sookie novels, that make you wonder a little bit more.
