This is a review of “Pleasures of a Dark Prince” by Kresley Cole. It is the 7th novel in The Immortals After Dark Series. It follows on from the novella “Untouchable“.
Lucia the Huntress is a Valkyrie. You know? Female warrior? Lightning? Hails from Valhalla? She is an archer. A damn fine archer. Like the best frickin’ archer in the whole frickin’ world. Long ago she struck a deal with a goddess. Perfect aim and a healing in exchange for a few vows. The main one being chastity. Which Lucia has never really found to be too hard. She just hadn’t met Garreth yet.
Garreth MacReive is a Lykae. (That’s a werewolf for those of you who aren’t “in the know”). He howls at the moon and all that. He hasn’t found his mate yet. Until he spots Lucia, and then it’s on like Donkey Kong! He will stop at nothing to have her by his side (and in his bed) and boy does he have the stamina to keep at it.
But Lucia can’t be with MacReive. Not only does she have her vow of chastity, but there’s this whole other matter of this super dooper gross guy that she has to defeat every 500 years or so. And she’s bound to this gross guy in an inexplicable and shameful manner. It’s her deepest and darkest secret…
Will MacReive ever get to claim Lucia as his mate? Or will she continue to evade him? And will Lucia ever fix up her mess? Or is she doomed to be bound to the icky dude forevermore?
A great read from Kresley Cole. A plot that’s a bit more fleshed out than in previous novels. This tale also gives some back-story to “A Hunger Like No Other”, and ends pretty much “cliffhanger” style.
