This is a review of “Dark Needs At Night’s Edge” by Kresley Cole. It is the 4th book in the Immortals After Dark Series. It follows on from “Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night“.
Nèomi is a ghost. You know, like Casper? She flits around her mansion, forever bound to the place where she was brutally murdered in the 1920s. She fills her time by scaring off vandals and reading the latest newspaper to be thrown at her house.
Conrad is a vampire. But not a goody two shoed, “I sparkle in sunlight” vampire. A badass vampire. An assassin. A crazy, hallucinating, blood drinking vampire. His brothers capture him, and in an attempt to reform him, imprison him in a mouldering old mansion, which they believe to be empty.
Conrad soon begins to see and hear Nèomi, but believes her to be a product of his battered mind. Nèomi, however, is delighted to have finally found someone that she can actually interact with. As Conrad begins to heal with the help of his brothers and the beautiful (if see-through) Nèomi, he wonders if they can ever truly be together.
Nèomi, asks for the help of a witch to be brought back to life; but can they be together? Or will her second mortal life be as short-lived as her first?
I really liked this book! It is probably my favourite of the series so far. Well worth a read.
